Black Mountain, NC
After the radio show, we headed over the Black Mountain, NC to play a show at "The Town Pump". It was our second time playing there. Love that place. You walk in and people have their dogs with them, everyone knows each other... We saw some of the same people we met on our first trip there. Plus they carry my new favorite beer-- it's called Pisgah Pale Ale, and despite what the name might suggest, it's one of the more delicious brews i've had. I don't think you can get it up north, so i will have to wait until we play in Ashville in a few weeks, to get some more.
Jerry, who tends bar (and who happens to be a pretty kick a** touring upright bassist, in his own right) took care of us like only a fellow musician, used to the road, can... He ran sound, comped us domestics, kept the whole place running fine.
Breakfast the next morning was not as good as the joint in Thomas WV, but it was still good.
Spindale, NC
We played a radio show at WNCW in Spindale, NC. We played 4 songs and participated in a nice interview. Playing radio shows can sometimes be a little nerve-racking, but the folks at WNCW were so chill that it really brought a nice comfortable ambiance to the room. They have great gear, know what they are doing, and give a band every opportunity to sound good. We felt like we played well.
Eddie's Attic, Decatur, GA
We played a show with GiGi Dover last night at Eddie's Attic. Nice venue. Eddie and co. Treated us great, with live recording and an awesome dinner (scallops over grits - magnifico, really!)
GiGi played some good rock n roll, complete with sitar solo.
The sound was great, and they recorded the show live. Keep an eye out for some new tunes in the family section of btkb.com.
The Purple Fiddle, Thomas WV
This little enclave, hidden in the hills of West Virginia, was such a unique place. The Purple Fiddle was a great sounding room with a kind staff and great food and atmosphere. The gig itself felt great and the two parties afterward, that we were invited to, felt just as good.
They hooked us up with a place to crash too, which is always nice. Breakfast at the Flying Pig earns the title of "Best in Show" for breakfasts on 2007/2008 tour, thus far.
